# Quantity surveying for Earthwork excavation

**Center line drawing **

**FOOTING DRAWING & FOOTING DIMENSIONS DETAILS**

**QS STEPS FOR FRAMED STRUCTURES: **

**LET ME CONSIDER FOOTING 1 **

- Calculate the number of footings in footing1 first.
- Take the footing size Length and Breadth from the footing plan if the size is not given in plan drawing take it from the table.
- The size of footing 1 is 3’9” in length and 3’9” in breadth
**(‘- feet, “- inches).** - Always add 1’ to 1’3” in both length and breadth for earthwork excavation the additional 1’to1’3” feet is for formwork and working space for workers in the foundation pits.
- Take the depth of excavation from the cross-section diagram.
- Calculation:

**NOTE:** Always convert the inches in to feet because while calculating in excel we cannot use symbols

**= **Number of footing* length* breadth* depth

= 3*5*5*8.25
